Manchester United are in for another busy summer and as the case has been most years, the club is preparing for yet another mass exodus.
Erik ten Hag’s squad has been torn apart by injuries this summer and there are question marks over the futures of many of the players that have been sidelined.
Players that Ten Hag has relied on this season are also in danger of being let go this summer, with some first-team stars nearing the end of their contracts.
Casemiro enjoyed a stunning first season at the club, helping guide the Reds to a third-place finish as well as scoring in the final that ended United’s six-year wait for silverware.
His second campaign has, however, been far from successful. Casemiro has endured an injury nightmare and on the pitch, his influence has greatly waned.
According to The Mirror, the Brazil international is now one of 12 players that could be sacrificed this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe sets his sights on overhauling the squad personnel.
As per the report, the former Real Madrid star is joined by Scott McTominay, Mason Mount, Antony, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Christian Eriksen, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as potential casualties of Ratcliffe’s mass exodus.
It remains to be seen if Ten Hag remains in charge to oversee the seemingly planned overhaul of the squad or if INEOS take complete control of the situation.
As things stand, it looks like United will need to be active on the outgoings front before they can spend freely on strengthening the squad.
On the pitch, United have a FA Cup semi-final to look forward to as the Reds face Coventry City this weekend, with a win confirming back-to-back appearances in the final of the tournament.
