Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has spoken out about the future of Belgian international Romelu Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku is currently shining in the colors of AS Roma. With 18 goals and 4 assists in 41 matches, the Belgian striker is having a very good season. However, its future remains unclear.

The former Everton striker arrived on loan at Roma last summer from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal. Unless there is a change in the situation, he should make his return to Stamford Bridge at the end of this 2023-24 financial year.

A choice to make for Chelsea

Asked about a potential return of “Big Rom”, the coach of the Blues, Mauricio Pochettino, left doubt. “He is a Chelsea player, so we will certainly be attentive to the question of his future. His return is an option. But we haven’t yet made a decision regarding Lukaku.”the Argentine coach told the media.

If Pochettino’s statements remain cautious, they do not suggest a categorical rejection of Lukaku at Chelsea. The good performances of the native of Antwerp in Italy could encourage the leaders of the London club to offer him another chance. Or perhaps they will prefer to sell it to recoup part of their investment.

As a reminder, the Premier League resident had spent 113 million euros to convince the Nerazzurri to give them the 30-year-old center forward.
