Chelsea are moving fast to the signing of Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer.

Newcastle have been in talks with representatives of the former Man City academy defender, with a deal being worked on for weeks.

That was before Chelsea hijacked those talks and Adarabioyo looks set to become Enzo Maresca’s first signing since moving to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City.

🚨🔵 EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea are closing in on deal to sign Tosin Adarabioyo, negotiations at final stages.

Newcastle have been working on Tosin deal for weeks but #CFC now clear favorites, cautious until it’s sealed.

Adarabioyo has been linked with a move to United in recent months, so the immediate reaction to this news has not gone down well with certain Reds across social media.

Some feel United are acting too slow and that the wait over Erik ten Hag’s future is delaying everything else.

Could Tosin to Chelsea transfer work out in United’s favour?

Chelsea need to sell homegrown players to avoid problems with profitability and sustainability regulations.

That brings us back to United’s interest in Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, with The Independent suggesting we could get him for as little as £25 million this summer.

The Guardian claims Adarabioyo’s impending arrival could hasten the departure of Chalobah.

This, of course, means it wouldn’t be a worry if we missed out on a cheap option like Adarabioyo because we might end up getting Chalobah instead.

I would be happy with either centre-back as an option next season considering what we had available this season. You would be mad to object to either!
