Bayer Leverkusen are well aware that after their scintillating season, numerous clubs will be lining up for their top talents this summer.

One of those is Jeremie Frimpong, who has been heavily linked with a potential Manchester United switch in recent months.

The attacking full-back, 23, has played an integral role at the heart of his side’s title-winning campaign and could well finish the term as an invincible treble winner, depending on how Leverkusen fare in the Europa League semi-final and DFB Pokal final.

In 42 appearances across all competitions, Frimpong has notched a remarkable 13 goals and 11 assists.

Alas, it’s such contributions that have the German outfit incredibly reluctant to sanction his departure, especially given that his current contract contains a staggeringly low release clause of just £35 million.

Christian Falk reports that the Leverkusen hierarchy is doing its utmost to tie down the Dutch international to a new deal, removing his current clause in the process while inserting a new, higher one.

It’s thought that Frimpong is keen on embarking on a new venture in the Premier League, with United deemed an ideal destination.

Manchester United’s target Jeremie Frimpong on a possible summer move: „I don’t know when I decide about my future. I’m just focused on Leverkusen and the upcoming matches.” The 22yo Dutch right-back is keen to move to #MUFC. Bayer Leverkusen demand a fee around €50m. 🔴 @SPORT1
