Manchester United will be exploring options to strengthen a number of positions this summer and a right-sided winger may be high on the club’s list of priorities.

There are growing concerns about all of Erik ten Hag’s current options in that area. Jadon Sancho is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund and there is no guaranteeing that he will return to the club going into next season.

Antony, the former Ajax star, has endured a troubling second year at the club and has often found himself on the bench, making ten-minute cameos at the end of games.

To accommodate the lack of a consistent right-winger, Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho have played from that side.

Michael Olise, the Crystal Palace winger, has emerged as a potential target for the Old Trafford club and now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update.

As per the journalist and transfer specialist, United are one of ‘several’ clubs in the race to secure Olise’s signature this summer as a departure from Crystal Palace looks increasingly likely.

It’s claimed that Olise has a £60m release clause that will be active this summer – a figure United would presumably be happy to stump up.

Romano goes on to explain that INEOS, who have assumed responsibility for the club’s football operations following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% takeover, are tracking the Frenchman but are aware of the competition that comes with a pursuit.

Olise is also said to be ‘one of the names’ monitored by INEOS, hinting that there are other alternatives being discussed in the Old Trafford backrooms.

United’s ability to spend this summer will, most likely, be contingent on the club generating funds through sales. Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Harry Maguire are among the players that could provide United with firepower in the market.
