Wayne Rooney, Roy Keane and Andy Cole all hailed Amad Diallo after his performance against Newcastle as he scored his first Premier League.
The Ivory Coast international also provided an assist for United’s opener in the 3-2 win over Newcastle.
It feels that an impressive cameo from Amad, along with honourable contributions from other players, rescued Erik ten Hag and United from another unwanted league defeat.
United have already lost 14 games in the Premier League this season.
However, there is reason to be excited about Amad. His performance tonight warrants praise he got he got exactly that from former United trio Andy Cole, Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane.
Rooney said via Sky Sports: “I think he’s [Amad] done well when he’s come into the team. The young players have to look at the squad and their future at Manchester United. There’s an opportunity for them there which maybe they might not have got years ago. There’s an opportunity for them to really stake a claim in the team and a few of them are starting to take their chance.”
Keane replied: “Sometimes when you’re at a big club and there are injury problems, these lads are forced in before they are ready. But they took that opportunity.”
Amad’s willingness to shoot at goal was mentioned when Cole added: “There is nothing wrong with that. If you don’t shoot, you don’t score.
“He has waited a long time to get into the team. Now he’s been given an opportunity and in the last two games he has done well. Finally gets his first goal in the Premier League and that’s going to be a big plus to him.”
