Former Manchester United and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has urged his former club to make a quick decision on the future of Erik ten Hag.

It was a difficult season for Manchester United. An eighth-place finish, 60+ injuries, and failure in Europe. The Reds managed to end the campaign on a high after overcoming Man City in the FA Cup final as Ten Hag won a second trophy in as many years at the club.

While United conduct an end-of-season review to decide on whether to keep Ten Hag as manager, Pique has come out in support of the Dutchman and wants the decision to be made quickly.

Pique sat down for an interview with talkSPORT to promote his latest venture, ‘Kings World Cup’.

“Well, it’s tough to say really because it’s true that they won the cup at the same time it’s also true they are not fighting for the Premier League which I think at some point, has to be one of the objectives of Manchester United,” Pique said, as per Manchester Evening News.

“I don’t know, I think that the board of United really needs to understand what they want for the club in the next few years and really if they believe in Ten Hag or not, they need to make the decision.”

United secured their place in the Europa League by winning the FA Cup. Yet, there is still doubt surrounding Ten Hag’s position after multiple managerial candidates have been identified.

I can’t see anything positive from this dragging on for much longer. Hopefully, we get an announcement from the club this week and it doesn’t run into another week of unnecessary speculation.
