Four La Liga games, four wins, 13 goals scored and three conceded. The debut of FC Barcelona version Hansi Flick is more than successful. The offensive play deployed by the team of the German coach, who succeeded Xavi during the summer, bore fruit against Valencia (1-2), against Athletic Club (2-1), on the pitch of Rayo Vallecano (1-2) and, more recently, against Real Valladolid (7-0). However, everything has not been simple. Orphaned of several starters like Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen or Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona can count on its young talents from the training center to remain competitive.

A revelation last season in defense, Pau Cubarsí (17 years old) is increasingly establishing himself in the central hinge. Injured for a good part of the 2023-2024 season, Alejandro Baldé is gaining momentum at left-back. In midfield, Marc Bernal (17 years old) started in the first three games of the season before suffering a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee. He was replaced by another talent from the training center, Marc Casado (20 years old), against Valladolid. In the attacking sector, Lamine Yamal (17 years old) is continuing his excellent Euro, which he won with Spain by finishing as best passer and best young player. The right winger has already provided four assists and scored a goal since the start of this new season.

Robert Lewandowski in excellent form

To regain the national title, Barcelona can also count on more experienced players. Named captain this season, Marc-André ter Stegen is starting his 11th season in the Blaugrana colours. While his performances can be criticized, the 32-year-old goalkeeper remains a sure bet in the eyes of Flick and the Catalan upper echelons. Jules Koundé’s performances are praised across the Pyrenees. The French international even scored in the last Liga match. In midfield, Dani Olmo (21) is already proving decisive. He had a delayed debut following Barça’s late registration with La Liga. Recruited from RB Leipzig for 55 million euros, he has already scored two goals in two games, including the one in the victory against Vallecano.

Finally, Robert Lewandowski (36 years old) continues to score. While the attackers of the Madrid rival are struggling to get their season off to a good start, the Pole continues to pile up the goals, despite his advanced age. A double scorer against Valencia, he also scored against Bilbao and this afternoon against Valladolid. Seeking revenge after a 2023-2024 season without trophies, FC Barcelona is therefore starting its revival in the best possible way, to the great delight of Hansi Flick and the supporters.

“When you see the enthusiasm of the fans after the victory, you see that the team does not lose intensity after 7 goals, it’s very good. It makes the fans proud. We are here to give the best of ourselves. I am proud to learn that I am the recruit of the transfer window, but we are only in the fourth game and that can change quickly. I am obviously happy that the fans are satisfied, it is one of my objectives.”said the Catalan coach after the victory. This will have to be confirmed in the Catalan derby against Girona (September 15), after the international break. But also in the Champions League.
