Frenkie De Jong has once again emerged as a hot topic at Barcelona. The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou throughout the past few weeks.

While the rumour mill continues to spin speculation surrounding the future of Frenkie de Jong, the Barcelona star appears to be enjoying a good time on the scenic beaches of Barcelona.

De Jong meets de Ligt in Barcelona

In fact, the Dutchman recently met former Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt on the beaches of Barcelona.

De Jong posted a photo of the two on Instagram. According to Gerard Romero, the picture was taken in Castelldefels, a beach located on the outskirts of Barcelona.

De Jong’s bonhomie with de Ligt go way back. They were two of Ajax Academy’s finest academy products and rose to prominence in 2019 when Ajax famously reached the final of the UEFA Champions League.

In the same summer, both players left Ajax, with de Jong joining Barcelona while de Ligt was roped in by Juventus.

Barcelona in talks with agents over de Ligt

De Jong’s picture with de Ligt in Barcelona comes on the back of a recent meeting that had taken place between sporting director Deco and agent Rafaela Pimente, who notably represents Erling Haaland and de Ligt.

Although the main topic of discussion in the meeting was Haaland, Deco reportedly discussed the possibility of signing de Ligt as well, albeit briefly.

It must be noted that de Ligt has endured a difficult time at Bayern lately, especially under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel.

Although Tuchel is leaving Bayern at the end of the season, de Ligt’s future remains uncertain, especially with Bayern potentially going through a summer overhaul.
