That is due to planning in advance and knowing what the promotion wants to see out of the match. However, sometimes a company will make some changes, which was the case with a rather big match that took place earlier this week.

The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw was a six man gauntlet match, with the winner going on to challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 40. According to Fightful by way of Cagesideseats.com, the original plan called for Bronson Reed to start the match and then be eliminated by Sami Zayn, who would go on to win the match. Reed entered at #3 and eliminated Ricochet before Zayn entered at #4. it is not clear why the change was made.
