James Van Der Beek is very content with the size of his family. If you didn’t know, the 47-year-old Dawson’s Creek actor and wife Kimberly, whom he married in 2010, are parents to six children – Olivia, 14, Joshua, 12, Annabel, 10, Emilia, 8, Gwen, 6, and Jeremiah, 3. In a new interview, James revealed that he had a vasectomy before he was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2023. Keep reading to find out more…“I figured the only way we’re going to stop [having kids] is if we have some medical intervention,” James shared with People. “I said listen, ‘Guys, you know Daddy has some surgery on his private parts, so just be really careful when you run up to me not to bump into anything,’” James recalled telling his kids. James went on to joke that he and Kimberly “really sucked” at “not getting pregnant,” adding that they only planned one of their pregnancies. “Well, we love having kids, but we didn’t really plan it out,” James explained. “One was 100% on purpose.” “But thank God, honestly, because it’s such a struggle for people, and we really don’t take it for granted,” he added. “I joke, and I laugh, but like, yeah, we really just kind of got lucky that way.” Also in the interview, James opened up about his cancer battle.
