Joe Hendry has a lot of fans in the pro wrestling world who believe in him. His recent appearances on WWE NXT have proven his popularity, as he’s been brought in to mix it up with the black and gold brand. This is a big deal for TNA Wrestling, and it’s even more significant than some fans might realize.

Hendry first appeared on WWE NXT about a month ago, and that was an unexpected addition to the TNA and NXT partnership. He returned to team with Trick Williams against Ethan Page and Shawn Spears. On the July 16 episode of NXT, Hendry announced that he would be sticking around while he was on commentary, so we’ll be seeing more of him on WWE television.

In recent interview with Denise Salcedo, Hendry was asked about his experience with NXT and working with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. He mentioned that in the tag team match, he scored the winning pinfall, which he feels people might not grasp the significance of. He also said that his time in WWE’s NXT brand has been everything he’s hoped it would be.

“My time in WWE and NXT has been everything I hoped for. The environment is encouraging, and people are happy to be there. They have treated TNA so well. Shawn Michaels takes the time to give advice, guide, and teach. After the match, doing the promo with him was very meaningful. A TNA guy getting the pin in the main event of a WWE show is significant. Shawn Michaels has faith in me, and I hope fans understand how much he is doing for me and TNA. I’m very grateful to be in this situation and to learn from people on both sides.”

Hendry is looking to win his first-ever TNA World title in the main event of tonight’s Slammiversary in a six-way elimination match. He will be competing against Moose, Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, Nic Nemeth, and Frankie Kazarian for the TNA World Championship. We’ll see if Joe Hendry can walk out of the Ontario pay-per-view as the champion.

Ringside News will have full coverage of TNA Wrestling’s Slammiversary event. It’s going to be a big night for the company, and you never know if even more NXT stars will show up to surprise fans.
