This Sunday, “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita will be competing at Referee Matsui’s 30th anniversary show. His opponent is someone whom Takeshita has never wrestled in a one-on-one match. It is none other than Minoru Suzuki.
Recently, DDT Pro revealed that Konosuke Takeshita will be wrestling Suzuki at the event. During an interview with the aforementioned promotion, The Alpha mentioned that he had learned a lot from Minoru Suzuki and is looking forward to their match.
“I’ve seen him wrestle in AEW in person, and I’ve learned lots at the many indie shows we shared locker rooms together. Our styles and philosophies on wrestling differ but our way of life as a wrestler, and it might not be the right way to phrase it but his resilience in an unforgiving industry is amazing. And I’ve come to understand how amazing that skill is in my current environment seeing how often he is called over to shows whether in Japan or America,” Konosuke Takeshita said.
Konosuke Takeshita claims his matches became better once he stopped having fun
During the same interview, Takeshita claimed that he has not been happy ever since moving to the United States of America.
“Everyone felt like they’re having fun Wrestling here (in Japan). I didn’t had any fun wrestling ever since I got to America. The effort was bearing fruit, but I didn’t feel the enjoyment. It was the most mentally exhausting period in all 12 years of my wrestling career. However when I stopped having fun, my matches were better received and I gained more recognition. And its not proportional.”
A fan took notice of this comment and claimed that this was a hard read. Takeshita replied to the fan asking him to not misunderstand him. He also stated that he is the Alpha and will make sure that his choice to sign with AEW was not wrong.
“I don’t want you to misunderstand this is not necessarily a bad thing. In other words, taking on a challenge is hard work. It’s like a cutting phase for bodybuilders. I understand that time is necessary to shine at the top. I make sure my choice had not been wrong. I’m The Alpha,” Konosuke Takeshita tweeted.
