Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keen on building on his working relationship with the club’s newly appointed technical director Jason Wilcox.

Wilcox, who won the Premier League as a player, arrives at United after impressing in his previous roles at Man City and Southampton.

It has been revealed that Wilcox has already met with Ten Hag – a day after United book their place in the FA Cup final after beating Coventry City on penalties.

The pair will be discussing plans for the future amid reports that suggest Wilcox will be reviewing Ten Hag’s position as manager.

When asked at his press conference about how closely the pair will work together, Ten Hag said (via ManUtd.com): “Very close. We have to form a partnership, [it’s] very important.

“We are a little bit behind in the process so we have to catch up and it will speed up the process.”

Ten Hag added: “Yes, I met him yesterday for the first time.

“So we talked. This week, we will not have much time but, from Monday on, we will [move] quick forward. Of course I know his profile, I know he was at Man City in the youth [department] and had a lot of experience there.

“I know he was at Southampton so I am looking forward to our partnership.”

United are back in action on Wednesday night when Sheffield United come to Old Trafford.
