Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.

A striker was always going to be on the agenda for United this summer and it sounds like the club has decided to pursue a deal for the Netherlands international.

According to The Athletic, United have agreements in place on personal terms and agent commission.

There is an acceptance from United that the agent commissions are sizeable but the overall package is deemed good value for money considering Zirkzee’s agent and ability.

Zirkzee has a release clause worth €40 million but United are exploring whether to activate it or negotiate a price separately.

The 23-year-old scored 11 Serie A goals for Thiago Motta’s Bologna as they qualified for next season’s Champions League.

David Ornstein claims United see Zirkzee as having a complementary skillset to Rasmus Hojlund and being capable of strengthening their range of possibilities up front.

Another player United are trying to sign is Zirkzee’s international team-mate Matthijs de Ligt.
