Manchester United are growing more confident of securing the transfer of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt.
It is understood that personal terms won’t be an issue as De Ligt has advised his agent to prioritise a move to United.
That is according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, with talks ongoing over the structure of the deal.

Romano provided a further update in his Daily Briefing column earlier today. He states that Paris Saint-Germain are not in the race for the Netherlands international, despite rumours to the contrary.
De Ligt is looking to rejuvenate his career after emerging as a potential world-beater under Erik ten Hag at Ajax. He then moved on to Juventus before Bayern Munich – only to struggle to adapt to both clubs.
One of the biggest priorities for United this summer will be solving the issues in defence. Ten Hag also needs to identity a replacement for Raphael Varane and I think De Ligt would be a good fit.
The Dutch centre-back was once considered one of the best young players in the world. He hasn’t been able to reach those heights since the days he played under Ten Hag. That bodes well for United.
