Manchester United will see lots of change this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s team take control of football operations. The a new recruitment team will be tasked with finding better players more suited to the direction the club wants to take.
Fresh claims from Spain suggest Ratcliffe wants to devastate Real Sociedad fans with the signing of Spain international Alex Remiro.
Prior to the 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday, it looked like Erik ten Hag could keep his job at United manager. Now it feels like we’re losing every match between now and end of the season, and it remains to be seen if the Dutchman will get the chance to overcome that.
The manner of Monday night’s defeat to Palace has seemingly shown Ratcliffe and co that they must make a change this summer to help get United back on track.
Newspapers are getting leaks from the dressing room about players being uncertain whether Erik ten Hag will be manager next season. That is never a good sign for the manager.
Gareth Southgate has been named as a top target for the role. A prospect that should fill fans with unease.
Real Sociedad keeper chased
Marca believe United could look to replace Andre Onana with Real Sociedad’s Remiro.
Remiro’s performances have improved in recent years, just like his proportion of clean sheets. He has kept 20 clean sheets in 45 games so far this term and made his first cap for Spain in March.
Only time will tell if the 29-year-old will be headed to the Premier League for a big move.
Remiro has a €70m release clause in his contract, which runs until the summer of 2027.
United will be trying to drive that price down if they are to sign Remiro this summer.
