Manchester United need to address their issues at centre-back this issue, with question marks looming over all of their senior players in that area.

Harry Maguire has just one year remaining on his contract and that is also the case with Victor Lindelof. Raphael Varane is increasingly likely to leave the club as his contract expires and Jonny Evans also falls into that category.

Lisandro Martinez has endured a nightmare season due to injuries and has only played a bit-part role in his second campaign.

That could force United’s hand in this summer’s transfer window, with Gleison Bremer, the Juventus defender, frequently popping up as a potential target for the Reds.

Now, with the end of the season and the transfer window edging closer, it is being reported that United are in the frame to sign the Brazil international.

That’s according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, via Sport Witness, who say that United have been tracking Bremer for an extended period and that the subject of a transfer is increasingly likely.

As per the report, despite the player having four years remaining on his contract at the Turin club, the club’s new management could view him as ‘expendable’.

It’s claimed that Bremer a clause that will allow Bremer to leave the club will become active next summer but Juventus could be open to letting him go for €60-70m this year.

It remains to be seen whether that is something that United would push ahead with but in the report, it’s hinted that the price tag would not be seen as a stumbling block.

It remains unclear whether Erik ten Hag will be in charge to oversee this summer’s window after increasing uncertainty over his future following a rough campaign in charge.
