Manchester United transfer target Jean-Clair Todibo has admitted he has had a ‘little discussion’ with OGC Nice about his future amid ongoing transfer speculation.
The French centre-back has been linked with a move away from Nice this summer for months.
Aged 24, Todibo has been tipped as a potential replacement for Raphael Varane, who announced his departure in a message addressed to United fans last week.
United plan to sign two centre-backs this summer.
Todibo has reportedly attracted interest from other Premier League clubs too, such as Tottenham Hotspur, as per Nice-martin.
The French defender provided a brief update on his future when asked by The Telegraph, and it included a hint that he is about to leave Nice.
“Honestly I don’t want to talk about [my future] because of my respect for the fans here and the club also, but we had a little discussion, for sure.”
Todibo is suggesting that it would be disrespectful for him to speak honestly about his future. I think that is telling but it remains to be seen if United will formalise their interest.
It may benefit United’s pursuit of a new defender if Todibo is a chosen target since Sir Jim Ratcliffe also owns Nice.
