Manchester United youngster Shea Lacey is on the verge of signing his first professional contract.

The talented academy prospect signed a scholarship deal at the club last year, but there is an agreement in principle to sign professional terms when he turns 17, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Lacey will celebrate his 17th birthday on April 14 and he is expected to put pen to paper on his first professional deal, which is another milestone for the youngster to knock off his list.

This is exciting news for United because Lacey is regarded as one of the most promising players in the academy right now. He will be taking inspiration from Kobbie Mainoo, who broke into the first team this season, as well as Alejandro Garnacho and Omari Forson.

The youngster was born in Merseyside and comes from a family of Liverpool fans, but you will be happy to read that Lacey is a United fan.
