Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has announced that he is taking a break from social media for a “few weeks” after a challenging season both on and off the pitch.

The 26-year-old started the FA Cup final win over rivals Man City after missing a few games through injury. It was his first start since the semi-final victory over Coventry City on April 21.

The England and United star, who looks set to miss out in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man Euro 2024 squad, revealed his decision on Monday night via X.

Rashford reminded his critics that at United, we “always stick tonight”, which is an admirable stance to take as someone who had had to listen to lots of criticism this season.

Rashford wrote: “It’s time to come off Socials for a few weeks.

“I plan to rest and reset mentally after a challenging season individually and collectively.

“Thanks to the fans that stood by me through a difficult period.

“To the ones that didn’t just remember at United, we always stick together.”

Fans will hope that Rashford can return stronger ahead of next season. He managed 30 goals across all competitions last season and Erik ten Hag will want to see him back performing at those levels.

Otherwise, we’ve got an issue on our hands. Rashford is one of United’s top earners as of last year. He needs to stay showing that he warrants such a deal at the club.

At full-time on Saturday, Rashford was seen breaking down in tears after a disappointing campaign ended with silverware. He was also seen in videos jumping around the dressing room in enjoy at United’s latest major trophy.

The local lad has been linked with a move to PSG, but it looks like his future – for now – remains at Old Trafford.
