Mason Mount says Manchester United are looking to make significant improvements for the 2024/25 season.

The Reds endured a difficult campaign last term as they finished eighth in the Premier League, although it ended on a positive note as we beat rivals Man City in the FA Cup final.

Mount is excited to get the new season underway. After an underwhelming debut campaign as a Red, the England international has something to prove.

The former Chelsea midfielder made 20 appearances for United during 2023/24.

He believes the FA Cup victory over City was an example of what the squad is capable of and he wants the win more silverware at United.

“We know what we can do as a group and I think we showed it at the end of last season,” said Mount, in an interview with MUTV.

“We definitely have a group that can win trophies and that’s the most important thing.

“We’ll keep trying to do that and stay focused on that goal, because this is Manchester United and we need to set the bar as high as we can and we know how high the bar is.

“Now it’s time for us to perform. But we’re ready for it, as I said, and as many trophies as we can get, win as many games as we can.

“That’s our focus throughout the whole group. We’re definitely on the same page.”

Mount has performed well on tour thus far and he’s feeling refreshed, recharged and ready to go.

“It’s always good to come out here, always good to see the fans that come out and support us over here, because they don’t get to see us often,” he added

“So it’s definitely a point of ours to give them some time and sign a few autographs and make time for them. So yeah, it’s been brilliant so far.”

After missing out on a place in the England squad for Euro 2024, Mount had the entire summer off to enjoy himself with family and friends.

“I had a few weeks with the family, just relaxing and kind of taking a break and then keeping on it, keeping training, trying to stay active.

“Obviously you’re not taking too much time off because you’ve got to prepare for the season and got to be in the best position going into pre-season.

“So I felt like that was a perfect break for me.”
