Monaco-Lens, simply unplayable!

Ravaged since the start of the season, the Louis-II pitch did not allow the Monegasques and the Lensois to express themselves properly this Sunday (1-1).

The clash of the third day of Ligue 1, between two teams victorious in their first two league outings of the season, the match between Monaco and Lens, this Sunday at the Stade Louis-II, unfortunately resulted in a mouse: a 1-1 draw, almost fortunate, as it was not a given that there would be any goals in the Principality today.

Like the unfortunate Balogun, lacking inspiration certainly but also and above all hardly helped by the state of the pitch, the attackers concerned did not have a say in this match played under a blazing sun. The multiple false bounces and approximate trajectories of the ball made the game illegible, and often poor. Without much relief.

Goals from set pieces, of course

In the money time, everything settled down nevertheless. First on a Lens goal refused to Labeau Lascary for an offensive handball while the interested party was trying to keep control of the sphere on a mined pitch (79e). In the process, ASM opened the scoring, from a set piece – of course: a corner from Caio Henrique perfectly headed away by Zakaria (1-0, 84e).

No victory for the Monegasques, however, who in a final mishap conceded a penalty on a handball by the same Zakaria in the area – penalty converted by Frankowski (1-1, 90e+3). The two teams therefore leave back to back, leaving the leadership of the elite to OM while waiting for the closing match between Losc and PSG this Sunday evening.
