The Old Trafford faithful are having to head home in the midst of a torrential downpour in M16 after watching their side sustain a 14th Premier League defeat.

Indeed, Manchester United did as most expected of them heading into this weekend’s clash and fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of league leaders Arsenal.

It wasn’t their worst showing of the term by any means, but it was just yet another below-par performance to add to the lengthy list that we’ve seen over the past nine months.

Leandro Trossard’s 20th-minute goal was enough for the Gunners to take all three points back to North London, ensuring they stay in the title race until the final day next Sunday. However, the top spot is in Manchester City’s hands if they’re able to win their remaining two fixtures.

As for Erik ten Hag and his men, they finish the matchweek in eighth place and are on track to record their worst-ever finish of the PL era. They take on Newcastle United at home on Wednesday before travelling to lock horns with Brighton and Hove Albion next weekend to round off 2023/2024, after which full attention will turn to the FA Cup final.

Post-match, the panel on Sky Sports pointed out how significant of a job Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who was in attendance today alongside Sir Dave Brailsford, has on his hands due to both the team’s dismal season and the fact that the roof of the stadium was heavily leaking again, although thankfully, all fans had left by this stage.
