Prior to his untimely injury last month, Rasmus Hojlund emerged as one of the Premier League’s most in-form players in 2024 after he scored in six straight appearances, becoming the youngest player ever to do so.

Hojlund’s remarkable scoring run followed a long period without a goal in the Premier League, with the Danish international netting in the league for the first time against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Since then, he has been unstoppable and now, speaking ahead of Denmark’s fixtures against Switzerland and the Faroe Islands, Hojlund has detailed exactly what happened and explained how a meeting with Benni McCarthy and his attacking team-mates helped the team.

“You could say that we have found each other better,” Hojlund told BT, via The Mirror. “We have had some forwards meetings with Benni McCarthy, where we talked about things.

“It wasn’t just me and two others, it was everyone from the front line who attended the meeting. We talked about playing each other [in] well and helping each other, because that’s the way we will get the best results.

“We saw some video clips, and then there was reference to the fact that, here and there, some things should be done better. We could see that and then we have carried it out on the field, in training and matches.

“I try to train well and prepare every single day. I train on both my strengths and weakness. I have got better and better. I have had a good month [or so] but it has been the result of good work over a long period. It clicks a little better than at the start of the Premier League season.”

Hojlund seems to have struck a great understanding with some of his team-mates now, particularly with winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The injury that kept him out of games against Fulham, Manchester City and Everton may have derailed his season somewhat but United are on a good run and he should be able to get back to speed relatively quickly.
