Former Manchester United goal machine Ruud van Nistelrooy has spoken of his desire to return to management with the Premier League being among the divisions in which he would like to coach.
The Premier League is the biggest league in world football and it’s not a hot spot for the best footballing talents whether it’s players, coaches or staff. All of the best managers want to coach in the Premier League and Van Nistelrooy is no different.
Van Nistelrooy, 47, was PSV Eindhoven head coach for the 2022/23 season. He won the Dutch Cup at PSV but resigned before the end of the season, citing a lack of support within the club.
It was clear that Van Nistelrooy left PSV on his own terms. That said, he may argue that there was no other choice. Why let his reputation be on the line when he could leave after a brief taste of success?
“I would really like to work in Spain, and I have had conversations with Spanish clubs,” Van Nistelrooy said in an interview with Spanish media outlet Diario AS.
“But also the other leagues in which I have played, I want to coach there too. In the Premier League, and the Bundesliga.”
Van Nistelrooy is one of the best strikers I have had the pleasure of watching play for United. He scored an impressive 150 goals across five seasons for the club before leaving under a grey cloud for Real Madrid.
We would love to see Van Nistelrooy back in the Premier League. Maybe one day at United if he proves himself?
