Manchester United fans are currently awaiting developments regarding the club’s pursuit of centre-forward target Joshua Zirkzee.
The latest report doing the rounds comes courtesy of Italian outlet Corriere Di Bologna, which has confirmed that the Red Devils are ‘ahead’ of AC Milan as they put the wheels in motion on striking up a deal.
Zirkzee’s current contract contains a £34 million release clause that United are ready to activate, meaning it would make him their first signing of the summer window and of the INEOS era. The update adds that his future ‘should be resolved shortly’, with the Old Trafford outfit now the most likely side to facilitate a move.
Bologna line up Zirkzee successors
In line with that, Bologna have already started identifying replacements for the 23-year-old frontman, who is currently on international duty with the Netherlands at Euro 2024; they’ve submitted an offer for Panathinaikos’ Fotis Ioannidis and are tracking both Jonathan Burkardt of Mainz and Thijs Dallinga of Toulouse.
Across 2023/2024, Zirkzee scored 12 goals and assisted a further seven in 37 appearances across all competitions.
