Sir Alex Ferguson was spotted at private members club Oswald’s in Mayfair on Friday night.

The legendary former Manchester United manager was London-bound again a week after watching Erik ten Hag’s side beat Man City 2-1 in the FA Cup final.

Ferguson, who is expected to attend tonight’s Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Wembley, was pictured leaving the private members club when he stopped to pose for photos and sign autographs for fans (via Daily Mail).

The pictures show Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman alongside Ferguson as he left the esteemed private members club. One article in The Times described it as: “A private dining club that has become one of the capital’s most exclusive havens for senior members of the government, deep-pocketed donors, stars of show business looking to party privately, and members of the royal family.”

However, without adding to the speculation, the Scottish pair were likely out enjoying a drink as they’ve been close for years. It is also understood that Freedman has leaned on the United icon for advice in the past.

This may have played a part in Freedman previously being considered for a role at United, but he signed a new deal at Crystal Palace last week amid interest from Newcastle. Dan Ashworth is still expected to join United as the club’s sporting director.

Freedman played a significant role in choosing Oliver Glasner to replace Roy Hodgson as Palace manager in February. He is expected to continue his planning for the summer transfer window, with two of their players linked with moves to United.

Michael Olise and Marc Guehi have been featured in the gossip columns, with strong suggestions they are on United’s transfer wish list. It remains to be seen if any of them will be listed as priorities when the transfer window opens.

Nothing to see here. Or is there?
