IMG Credit: WWEThey are fans. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, there are times when the company feels the need to trim some names down. That can make for some less than happy moments when wrestlers are let go and unfortunately that was the case again this week. WWE has released some wrestlers, and now we know how those changes have been received backstage.

On Friday, WWE released five wrestlers (Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, Xyon Quinn, Sanga and Veer) and it is not clear if more releases are coming. PWInsider.com by way of Wrestlingnews.co has some details on the backstage reaction to some of the releases. There is said to be sympathy for Mahal, who was dropped down the card on multiple occasions. This includes after his segment with the Rock in January, which had no follow up. As for Li, her lack of success was blamed on her pushes starting and stopping, though she was said to be well liked backstage. There was no comment on the other three releases.
They were trying. Check out the released wrestlers during their time in WWE:
Opinion: It’s nice to see those backstage in WWE standing up for some of these wrestlers and what they said made sense. At the end of the day, Mahal was a former WWE Champion and was mainly brought in as a joke or someone there to put others over. On the other hand there is Li, and it is true that she never got a real chance to show what she can do. It’s a shame that they never got the chance, but hopefully they can go elsewhere and have a shot.
