Upon the culmination of the 2023/2024 campaign, Manchester United will welcome back numerous loanees while sending on-loan Sofyan Amrabat back to his parent club.

Indeed, the Red Devils have no intention of making the Moroccan international’s transfer permanent after what’s been nothing short of a lacklustre season for Amrabat in Manchester.

There was a £21.4 million buy clause included in the terms of his temporary deal, but he has shown nothing worthy of warranting such a fee to stay at Old Trafford long-term. Therefore, he will return to Fiorentina in the summer.

Since Amrabat made the switch from England to Italy on deadline day last September, he has been used sporadically by his former Utrecht coach Erik ten Hag, making just 13 starts across all competitions thus far – seven of which came in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has also been granted a further 12 appearances off the bench while ranking behind Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the pecking order.

As such, Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto shared his understanding of Amrabat’s future beyond United, revealing exclusively to CaughtOffside in his Daily Briefing:  “As we reported earlier in the year, he will have to return to Italy, as he will not remain at Manchester United beyond the end of the season.

“Then, Fiorentina will look for an exit for him as well. There will be teams that take an interest in him, and he will be one of the names we hear about during the summer transfer window. But he won’t stay at Fiorentina. He has done well in Italy, above all at Verona, and he is on the hunt for a new club. It will depend on the offers he has.”
