Bruno Fernandes completed yet another full match – this time 120 minutes – as Manchester United scraped their way to the FA Cup final last night.

The captain finished the game as one of the only players who can hold their heads high after what was a disastrous second-half showing from Erik ten Hag’s men – so bad it left you speechless.

Fernandes left his mark on the scoreline by assisting Harry Maguire, another standout performer, from a corner to make it 2-0 prior to half-time, before adding his name to the scoresheet with a clever finish to give the Reds a three-goal advantage in the 58th minute.

It was a lead that they held until the 71st minute, after which the tide turned significantly and Coventry City were able to complete a remarkable turnaround to force extra-time and subsequently penalties.

Fernandes runs the show again

United’s No.8 created nine chances across the tie, the most of any player on the pitch, while making six tackles, completing 85 passes and taking five shots on goal. As is so frequently the case, he was an integral, influential cog at the heart of the team.

Such efforts led to Fernandes being named Player of the Match for the semi-final clash, and journalist Nizaar Kinsella had his say on the midfielder’s heroics with a post on X (Twitter), reading: “Manchester United are failing Bruno Fernandes at this point.

“With his brilliance, he should be competing at a higher level. His loyalty must be tested by the last fortnight.”
