Manchester United are hoping to capitalise on Ronald Araujo’s uncertain situation at Barcelona, with reports suggesting he feels undervalued by the club.
This is largely due to the side’s precarious financial situation, which has been well documented in recent years.
Araujo, 25, is keen to see his wage of £114,000 per week increased to better reflect his integral role at the Camp Nou and match that of his teammates. A new contract proposal was tabled by Barcelona earlier this year, but it was still below the player’s expectations.
Should he remain unwilling to sign a new deal, the La Liga giants may then change their stance and opt to offload Araujo. They’re well aware that he’s one of their most valuable assets and would significantly ease their worries when it comes to balancing the books if they recuperate a respectable fee.
United have made Araujo a lucrative proposal
As well as that, the likes of United and Bayern Munich are waiting in the background to see if an opportunity to sign the Uruguayan, currently on international duty at Copa America, will arise.
A new report from Spanish outlet Sport (cited by Sport Witness) claims that the Red Devils are prepared to ‘go all out’ in their pursuit. They have made Araujo aware they can double his salary in hopes of convincing the formidable centre-half of a move to Old Trafford.
