Luke Shaw is set to miss the FA Cup final after suffering a setback in his recovery from injury, but Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof have returned to training to ease the pain a little bit.

It remains to be seen if Varane or Lindelof will get any minutes under their belt in United’s final league game of the season against Brighton on Sunday.

That will be their last chance to play before the big trip to Wembley the following Saturday.

Ten Hag also gave a positive update on Harry Maguire, who has a chance of making the final.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday evening ahead of the final game of the Premier League season, Ten Hag confirmed that Luke Shaw is a major doubt for the final.

“Luke is more complicated in this moment, let’s say it’s less of a chance he will make it but still a very small chance,” said Ten Hag, as per the Manchester Evening News. “He had a setback, now we have to find out how far it is.”

Ten Hag also made note of Varane and Lindelof returning to training. He added: “We’re working on bringing players back. Licha [Martinez] had a good session now as well, others on the pitch like Rapha [Varane], Victor Lindelof, we have to see how far they are on Sunday. Tomorrow we’re off, Sunday we have training.”

On Maguire, Ten Hag said: “Harry Maguire has a fair chance that he will be available.”
