Former Red Ashley Young has joined Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football panel ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Crystal Palace at 8pm.
As has been the case throughout the majority of the campaign, United’s debilitating injury crisis was a pressing point of discussion among Young and Jamie Carragher.
Tonight sees Bruno Fernandes miss his first-ever club game through injury, therefore joining the likes of Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and plenty of others on the sidelines.
Still, Young – now at Everton – believes that the ongoing fitness issues shouldn’t have derailed United’s season as much as it has.
“A club of this size… there should be the players available to come in and take them positions. Of course, there’s a lot of games that the [absent] players have been missing for, but that’s where you have the size of the squad you’ve got, you’re a world-class club – you can have the players that can come in and take them roles. Whereas right now, the absentees they’ve had, it’s a massive loss for them.”
