Villa poke their noses in front of United in race for prolific 32 G/A forward who could cost just £30m

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has his work cut out when it comes to bolstering Manchester United’s squad sufficiently this summer.

Aside from the other numerous positions that are in dire need of strengthening, the striker department is certainly a priority.

Jonathan David is a player who’s previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford and now, with the summer window on the horizon, such speculation has resurfaced.

The 24-year-old is reportedly being targeted by both United and Aston Villa, although Tuttomercatoweb claims that Unai Emery’s side are leading the race for David’s signature.

Across the 2023/2024 campaign thus far, the Lille talisman has notched a remarkable 24 goals and eight assists in all competitions. He has just one year remaining on his deal with the Ligue 1 outfit, which could lead to them cashing in this summer rather than letting him leave for nothing in 2025.

Should a sale be the preferred option, Lille could demand a fee of around £30 million to sanction David’s exit.
