That’s a big ending. We are on the Road To WrestleMania and while that includes a variety of things on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, NXT has its own major event coming in the form of Stand & Deliver. With that show in about two months, it is time to start setting the stage for the biggest NXT event of the year. That might have been the case this weekend with a surprise twist.

The main event of this weekend’s NXT Vengeance Day saw Ilja Dragunov defeat Trick Williams to retain the NXT Title. Following the match, Williams’ friend Carmelo Hayes turned on him and attacked Williams’ knee, which Hayes had injured during the match. Hayes attacked the knee with a chair to end the show. This came after the two teamed together in a losing effort to Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin in the finals of the Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in the show’s opening match.
