Wayne Rooney has left fans bemused after revealing his unique bedtime routine.
The former Manchester United striker made the admission while playing FIFA Pro Clubs with streamers Girth N Turf.
“If I’m in bed on my own, I sleep with the hairdryer on,” Rooney said on the Twitch stream, as quoted by the Daily Mail. I sleep with the hairdryer on the whole night.
“I have it on cold. On my kids’ lives, I sleep with the hairdryer on and it’s in the bed right next to me blowing on my head. I’ve got two fans next to my bed as well.”
This led to jokes among the streamers – also known as Angry Ginge and Pieface – who referred to Rooney’s electricity bill, which we are sure Rooney has no problem paying.
Another streamer was quick to notice the link between his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was famous for giving the ‘hairdryer treatment’ to players when they stepped out of line.
“That’s the f***ing PTSD of Fergie shouting at you,” one joked.
Ferguson and Rooney won 12 major trophies together but there had their share of fallouts down the years, especially after the striker’s infamous transfer requests.
United’s all-time record goalscorer stayed at United until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Rooney is only one of many players to receive the hairdryer treatment from Ferguson.
