Premier League stars will have one eye on the upcoming Euro 2024 as the current campaign approaches the business end of the season.

England's top-flight was forced to stop mid-season during the last international tournament to accommodate the Qatar World Cup.

However, the Euros is returning to its regular summer slot after the conclusion of all the continent's major domestic leagues.

When do Premier League teams have to release players for Euro 2024?

England's top sides are obliged to release any of their registered players who are called up to their national teams.

However, clubs are under no obligation to release their stars before the conclusion of their respective 2023/24 domestic campaign.

For most Premier League stars, that will be after the final round of games that are scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 19.

In that scenario, players will typically be granted a few days' break to recuperate should they please before joining their countries by the following weekend.

However, certain players will be delayed depending on any potential participation in the FA Cup final or any European Cup final.

England will play their first warm-up friendly against Bosnia & Herzegovina on Monday, June 3 - two days after the Champions League final.

Should any Premier League team feature at Wembley, then their players will miss the Three Lions' trip to Newcastle's St James' Park, and instead join up ahead of the send-off match against Iceland on Friday, June 7.

Last summer, Manchester City's England quintet Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips, John Stones and Kyle Walker were involved in the club's 1-0 win over Inter Milan on Saturday, June 10.

The rest of Southgate's squad arrived at St George's Park a day later, but City's winners didn't follow suit until Tuesday evening.

When will they return?

Premier League players rejoining their clubs will depend on how far their respective teams perform at the Euros.

Should a country be eliminated during the group stages or early knockout rounds then stars will likely enjoy a full pre-season.

However, dates are less confirmed in the event a team goes deep in the tournament, with the Euro 2024 final held on Sunday, July 14.

That is just over a month out from the Premier League's confirmed start date for the 2024/25 season on Saturday, August 17.

In that event, players appearing in the Euro 2024 final will be expected to enjoy at least a two-week break before joining their club's pre-season tours in late July or early August depending on locations.
